Angel Hotel Cardiff

The central location is hard to beat, the lobby is welcoming, well lit. Jamie confirmed the details of my reservation and provided relevant information and directions to my suite. Spotlessly clean and considering that this hotel is centuries old one can forgive the odd crack here and there. My suite overlooking Westgate St with a hindered view by scaffolding was Spotlessly clean, with a very basic personal hygiene selection in the bathroom. Unfortunately the tv in the bedroom reception and remote was awful. The bed was very spacious and comfy. Breakfast Waiting several minutes by the sign to be seated, gave up took my own seat in a restaurant with less than a handful of people. The cooled Breakfast option was hugely disappointing, the food was either cooked too early or the heat lamps are too hot, apart from the beans mushrooms most were inedible. The other option was A cold meat, a group of cheese slices, bowls of spoon your own yoghurt and cereal packets. The restaurant was clean and a member of staff was pleasant. If they had a fresher Breakfast experience, it would make a big difference.

Had a fabulous 2 night stay at this hotel. After initial hiccup (2nd floor + no lift + bad chest) this was resolved immediately and was put in a much larger closer room on the 1st floor. The staff couldn’t be nicer and more accommodating from the front desk to the cleaners to the housekeeping staff. Not modern but that suited me nicely. Brilliant location and more than value for money.

We had our office Christmas party here and it was brilliant. The food was gorgeous, Emily couldn’t do enough for us . We weren’t rushed and the setting was lovely. Would definitely recommend here and will be back. Thanks for a great time!

Gorgeous Hotel in a very convenient yet noisy location, if you book the hotel then its important you aware of its location and its right next to cardiff castle! The hotel and the rooms are so clean and the staff do well to clean them, the staff are all very pleasant and welcoming! Very comfortable beds, basic freeview TV no netflix though

Wonderful place to stay. Friendly service and great location. This beautiful building is old and the rooms do need some TLC. Yet they're very clean, safe and warm. Breakfast was spot on for £10. It's definitely worth the price you pay to stay here.

We travelled as a family of 4 (2 parents, 2 teenagers aged 17 and 13) and were staying one night. The staff on the front desk were very welcoming and the family room was like a palace - with two separate rooms in it: one with a superking bed and the other also very spacious with twins. We were not expecting so much space so were pleasantly surprised! The best thing about this hotel is its fantastic, central location, right in front of the castle and a stone's throw away from the start of the high street. Very close to the university campus also, so perfect location for the Cardiff Uni open day. Using the JustPark app, we planned ahead and booked parking in advance on Greyfriars Road which worked well for us, as we were travelling light. This was just a 3-minute walk away. Sadly we didn't get to trial the bar or food as we headed out for the evening (can recommend Pilgrim Pizza nearby!). The only negative was that our room on the top floor was far too warm, but this was mitigated by two fans placed in the rooms, and we opened the windows and turned the radiators down, which helped somewhat (we were visiting on a mild October day). All in all, an excellent stay. We definitely plan to return when we are next in Cardiff. This is a great hotel.

very convenient location nearing the castle, market and railway station. A building with 200 years history. Given the low price, the facilities and sanitary conditions are acceptable. However, the room is not soundproof. Throughout the night, you can hear people talking in the hallway and the sound of footsteps from guests upstairs.

Lovely old hotel, in a perfect location opposite Cardiff Castle, and walking distance to the train station/bus station and shops. Staff are really nice especially housekeeping. Everywhere is clean and tidy, even in the room. Shower was very powerful and temperature was great. Good WiFi in the hotel. Only downside was the lift not working and hasn’t for ages. This needs to be advertised before anyone books. And the mattress on the bed had dipped quite a bit on one side. But as I was on my own this wasn’t an issue for me.
